Newcastle Ultrasound for Women (NUFW) has new state-of-the art ultrasound technology capable of producing superb detailed images of the female reproductive system. Uniquely in our region NUFW is able to provide live 3D ultrasound.
Our Sonographers are all qualified and are experienced in obstetrics and gynaecological ultrasounds. This is important in recognition of the variations of normal that can occur, as well as abnormalities.
The advantage of a specialized ultrasound service is the experience of both the sonographers in seeing normal as well as abnormal cases, and the doctors of not just imaging, but also treating patients with these problems as a highly qualified specialist.
The ultrasound machines are linked to computers to enable the doctor to see the images simultaneously. The images are captured digitally, stored digitally on optical discs and printed out on photo-quality A4 paper.
